Vent

Compassion for people is hard sometimes. Its heartbreaking when the people who are antagonistic of my being vegan are 100 pounds overweight and clearly unhealthy. I have remember a lot of that has to do with their personal guilt and knowing they need to change. These are the same people who are devastated when their dog is sick and posts hourly updates on Facebook. How can they not make the connection that pigs and cows are just as intelligent and loving? Animal rights aside, don't they realize their quality of life could be so much better? I just want to help. I have to realize everyone has to awaken on their own in their own time. I can only help to catalyze or be there to guide. Sometimes it can be so lonely and frustrating.

One Month

Today, I have been vegan for one month. Here's what I've accomplished so far:

- Lost 4lbs
- Got rid of all animal products in my closet and pledged to not buy any more
-  I started this blog and admin on a vegan facebook page
- My digestive problems went away
- I eat less and feel fuller longer
- I've fallen in love with food again
- I now enjoy cooking
- I continue to do research on animal rights issues and try and spread the word
- I've signed multiple animal rights petitions, some of which have actually facilitated change.

So what are my new goals?:
- Lose more weight
- Make my make up back completely vegan and cruelty free

Meet your wool

The truth about UGGS is very UGG-LY

But What’s Wrong With UGGs?

YES. It’s getting cold and we need to keep our footsies warm and snuggly, but guess what? Our feet can stay just as warm, comfy and cute WITHOUT wearing UGGs! But what’s wrong with UGGs you ask? In a word, the truth about UGGs is very UGGLY.
UGGs are made in Australia, where the wool industry is known for forcing lambs to endure “mulesing,” in which chunks of skin and flesh (the size of dinner plates) are cut from the animals’ backsides using gardening shears, often without any painkillers. Yes, gardening shears. WTF?!

Also, wool shearers are paid by volume, not by the hour, which often results in frightened sheep getting kicked and punched with shears to get them to “cooperate”.
Like the reality of factory farming, once you see it with your own eyes, you can ignore no longer. So if you need more convincing, watch this.
Buying sheepskin products from Australia directly supports their cruel wool industry. For a pair of boots that can easily be made with alternative, NON-bloody materials? Come on now.
Here are some of my fave warm vegan boots sans the UGGly-ness.

Faux Shearling Furry Lined Vegan Boot from Alternative Outfitters: Warm and comfy? Check. Cute? Check. Most importantly, cruelty-free? CHECK.
If you wanna mix it up, hop on the sweater boot.  These are also super comfy and warm. Just make sure the inside is faux as well. ;) Try Old Navy’s appropriately named “Adoraboots“.
Don’t want to blend with the trend? Kick it up a notch with Sugar Women’s super cute patterned Cardigan Boots.
With all of these options, it’s no wonder everyone’s giving UGGs the boot. Show the world you, too, can stay warm with compassion by steppin’ out in these vegan boots!

An apple a day

Apples are certainly tasty and juicy but also offer countless medicinal values. Green Apples provide many health as well as cosmetic benefits. I’m certain ‘An Apple a Day keeps the doctor away’ quote reminds you of red juicy apple but Green Apples have considerably more benefits than the red ones
The Fiber composition in Green Apples helps in Digestion and cuts down the vulnerability to Colon Cancer
It doesn’t contain Cholesterol which can help you maintain your calorie strict diet regime for weight loss. A single apple can literally blow your hunger away
Green Apples contain comparatively less proportion of Fructose Content than the Red Apples, which can allow consumption by Diabetic Patients.
Green Apples contain various anti oxidants which can help prevent different types of Cancer.
Green Apples are a good source of Vitamin C which can prevent Mouth and Stomach Ulcers.
Green Apple extracts are commonly used in various commercial skin care products. Due to it’s high Vitamin content, it can help you maintain your skin complexion and actually enhance the color leaving your skin fairer.

Danger!

There are certain dangers associated with the vegan lifestyle.
